Dame Claire Bertschinger, DBE DL DHEd DSSc DSc (honoris causa) MSc RGN, Patron


Claire Bertschinger is an Anglo-Swiss nurse and activist in advocacy on behalf of suffering people in the developing world.
Her work in Ethiopia in 1984 inspired Band Aid and subsequently Live Aid, the biggest relief programme ever mounted.

Claire is the Director of the Tropical Nursing Course at The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, which is enormously successful at preparing large numbers of nurses to make significant contributions to world health. She has visited Nepal to evaluate the leprosy clinics and advises Promise Nepal on best practice to achieve its aims and objectives.
